These numbers seems incredibly high , but believe me when I say that in the future the demand ( and production of oil will increase, no doubt. There are some nations,countries as India, and China, that are still in a growing and developing stage. So, the guess is that the world oil consumption and production will rise in the future. The todays world oil production is estimate to about: 85 Million barrels a day, and In liters this means 85.000.000 barrels x 158,98 Liters oil...A very large number..Gigantic! Russia is the leader in oil production with a production of more than 10 million barrels a day, second are Saudi Arabia, and third are the US. Knowing that between 2000 and 2008 the world oil consumption was about 253 billion barrels, or 253.000.000.000. To visualize These huge amounts of oil, we'll give you an example.We take a soccer field, and that's about 50 meters wide and 100 meters long If you put one barrel of oil on every square meter of the field , then the whole field is containing 5000 barrels of oil.If you wish to store the daily oil production on football fields, than you need about 17.000 of them to st all these oil barrels. The monthly production is about 2,5 billion barrels of oil. The yearly production is about 30 billion barrels. 30.120.000.000 barrels. You could fill-up a space of 90 miles wide and 200 miles long.That's the size of a country as Belgium or the Netherlands . The production between 2000 to 2008 was about 253 billion oil barrels . This would be enough to cover more than half of the U.K with barrels of oil. Must there be more Oil? The consumption of these enormous amount of oil that yearly is the main reasons for the global warming, and the climate change. Not only has it a bad influence on co2 levels into our atmosphere, but also the environmental impact will have disastrous consequences, not only for nature and wildlife, but also for us: Humans living on this planet. These enormous world oil production,and oil consumption is leading to climate change by the amounts of carbon dioxide, not to mention the toxic pollution natural habitats of the planet. Acid rain for instants, has a large influence on forests, nature and natural water. Enough reasons to do something about it and to find a way to lower the co2 impact on our environment ( if we look what happened in the Gulf of Mexico....). Using electric vehicles in the city, and urban city would be a step in the right direction to the "independence of oil" process. If we see the millions of cars driving day in day out on the streets, there's no other way than that these oil reserves will run dry one day. This could take years, but eventually that day will come... Over about 20 to 25 years from now, Oil will become extremely hard to find , and will be extremely expensive too. Only the happy few who can afford will drive with combustion engine vehicles.. So, the solution will be electric.
