Tornadoes
Hello and welcome. Tornadoes are probably one of the most exiting weather phenomenons on our planet. They have a mysterious attraction power. They are beauty and beast at the same time. Since we all saw "The wizard of oz" . For the most of us,this was probably the first time they had ever seen our heard about a twister..
Ninety nine percent of all severe thunder storms that develop a severe whirling up-draft wind, are active in the United States. Each year, the US can count about a thousand active tornadoes .
Ninety percent of all the twister action is happening in one central part of the U.S. called "Tornado Alley". : Kansas,Colorado,Oklahoma,Nebraska,South Dakota,Arkansas,Texas, and New Mexico.
These areas suffer from more twisters than any other state in the United States.
Although most of the Tornado warnings and active thunder storms are active in these states of the US,
How does it comes that Tornado Alley counts so many tornadoes?
Some weather scientist say that it has something to do with the flat nature
of that area. All these states are relatively flat. Also, some of these
these states are bordered with mountains in the East between the Rocky
Mountains and Appalachian Mountains are the areas usually associated with
it.
This means that cool from Canada, warm moist air from the gulf of Mexico,
and hot dry air from the surrounding deserts meet each other, and this
mixture gives enormous clashes of unstable air types. The result is severe
thunder storms with now and then a strong whirling wind.
Tornado Chasers
As I mentioned previous, these thunder storms are
having an mysterious attraction power. They are beauty and beast.
In one way they are fascinating and from the other side extremely dangerous.
It's hard to believe for some, but chasers are crazy about severe weather. They have to arrive
at the right time and the right place,at least,if they wish to succeed
their assignment.
To achieve their mission they make use of
A tracking devices,a radio,a cell-phone,a weather station, and the Internet.
Their hobby isn't without any danger. Getting to close to a storm can be
very devastating, not only for the cars they are driving but also for their
own health.
Most of these people have enough sense to keep wisely
some distance. Although,to make that incredibly "once in a lifetime" photo some are capable to take the highest risk.
Not only the twisters are making a lot of damage, but also hail as thick
as a golf balls, or the size of an egg can drop out of the sky.
The highest danger comes from the flying rubble. With speeds of about 100
miles/h everything that's not stuck is whirling with the wind of a twister.
Flying rubble can cause some serious injuries, and they even can make
casualties when trees falling on cars or
on houses..
When a thunder storm has heavy rainfall it can have a twister too,
totally invisible for the human eye , but not for radar. This makes this sort of storms even more dangerously.
The question is:
Could the "global warming" have an influence!
on the frequency of severe thunder storms? Could it!
Scientists aren't sure about this issue...
What we know for a fact is that Global warming has an influence on severe weather, like heavy rainfall...
It's something what we gonna try to find out in the next coming month or years. At this time, it's hard to tell, but the possibility stay's .
If
the number is going up, or start to showing up in more and
countries, then that's something of our interests and we let you know...
