Solar Power...
Solar power is renewable energy coming from the sun. It's free and as we all know, an inexhaustible source that will never let us down. Although, possibly not every country on earth is capable to turn this in a real electricity or better said, not every country has the same amount of sun hours.
Solar energy by the way,is the only energy form used on planet mars, where there is not so much sun radiation available as on our planet ( further away from the sun, one reason). So there's hope for every country on our planet.
How can we use solar energy or in our daily life?
Well, solar power can be used in different ways.
There is the
Thermal mass heating. It's material that can be used to store heat from the Sun in the case of solar energy. Common thermal mass materials include stone, cement and in most used way : water.
Historically they have been used in arid climates , let's say deserts, to keep buildings and houses cool during the day time, and radiating stored heat to the cooler atmosphere at night. The same system can be used in cold ares as well, to keep energy use on a minimum. When properly incorporated, thermal mass maintains space temperatures in a comfortable range and reduces the need for auxiliary heating and cooling equipment.
In the United States, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems account for 30% (4.65 EJ) of the energy used in commercial buildings and nearly 50% (10.1 EJ) of the energy used in residential buildings. Solar heating, cooling and ventilation technologies can be used to offset a portion of this energy.
Solar energy and energy friendly housing is becoming more and more importances in architectural building.
For instants..
A solar chimney is a passive solar ventilation system composed of a vertical shaft connecting the interior and exterior of a building. As the chimney warms, the air inside is heated causing an updraft that pulls air through the building. Performance can be improved by using glazing and thermal mass materials in a way that mimics greenhouses.
Architects are all the time looking to improve the energy friendly content of buildings to lower energy use. This not only by insulating houses and other buildings perfectly, but also by the use of renewable energy sources, and solar power is the most prominent available energy source.
i
Photovoltaics cells or solar cells.
Ever thought about an solar power station on top of your roof?
But did you know that....
The first solar cell was constructed by Charles Fritts in the 1880s.
The earliest significant application of solar cells was as a back-up power source to the Vanguard I satellite in 1958, which allowed it to continue transmitting for over a year after its chemical battery was exhausted.
Nowadays, solar cells panels covers the roofs of an increasing number of houses.
What was in the past only used by space missions, is becoming now an ordinary way to convert energy from the sun into electricity, for daily use in our homes. The solar cell panels are quit expensive, but electricity is also.
These cost for panels will pay us back in time, and in many countries, governments are promoting the use of solar power with a bonus when purchasing solar panels. Find out if this is also the case in your country or state .
Naturally, We also promote the use of solar power . It's a way to reduce co2 emissions and so fight climate change.
One thing sure, one day all fossil fuel supplies will be exhausted. Hopefully mankind start to take responsibility by using renewable energy resources, and solar power is definitely one of them.
Thanks for your visit. Please re visit to follow the up-dates, to find out how energy friendly you too can be and preserve our planet. What's in fact our main goal..
