Deforestation of our planet!

Hi and welcome. Did you know that deforestation is responsible for the highest amounts of co2 emissions world wide, namely 1,6 billions of tons every year? Rainforest's are also the oldest forest existing on our planet. By slash and burn this unique environment ,the habitat for many plants and wildlife, has been diminished or totally gone on most places.

We already know that trees are the best co2 collectors in existence, and knowing that co2 is the mayor important greenhouse gas.

Trees and rain forests are protecting the environment and other way round. They are in fact a safe harbor for a diversity of plants and wild life.

Cutting down whole pieces of rain-forest has a devastating impact on the fragile environment, and can lead to a change in climate. Namely rainforest's can be turned to desert land in no time.

For thousands of years, rain forest are covering the landscape on the planet. High up in the Northern parts of the American,European , and Asian continents, we have very old pine tree forests.

Nowadays, the wood cut that's going on,legal and illegal,is destroying habitats and turning a living piece of Earth into desert land.

This very moment, by the end reading this page,a square mile of forest is been cut down. True, there are economical reasons, and the people in Africa are using wood for cooking.

But there are also pure "money profits". They also are playing a substantial role in the destruction of Earth oldest forests.

The places where rain-forest has been cut down to use as cattle ground, are soon left turned in a death rocky arid area where wildlife has no chances to survive anymore

Why?

Because deforestation also have an effect on the water cycle. Trees extract groundwater through their roots, and release it into the atmosphere what make the air moistener. When parts of rainforest's are cut,or burn down, the trees no longer evaporate away this water, resulting in an much arid climate.

Tree roots bind soil together, and if the soil is sufficiently shallow they act to keep the soil in place by also binding with underlying bedrock.

. When the trees are gone (read "cut down"), this soil is no longer protected by roots or leaves and so all the soil will be washed away with the rains. Result: Mud floods with a lot of damage and casualties under the inhabitants in the over-flooding villages.

Slash and Burn

The slash and burn, that continues in many countries in South America Africa,Asia, are causing large amounts of co2 emissions. Greenhouse gas number one responsible for the global warming, and the climate change. Tropical deforestation is responsible for approximately 20% of world greenhouse gas emissions.

Cutting trees are also the reason why mud and soil is washed away with the rains. Article: Flood tragedy in Thailand linked to deforestation Flood tragedy and burying seven villages under two metres of water and mud. ...

Deforestation is also responsible for the expansion of the deserts, so that people have to leave their land and move to other places.

Desert expantion in China.

Forest fires:

Does not always affect the trees in a bad way. In fact, in some areas in the United States and Australia , forest fires are necessary to produce new forest, and renew life to forests. These trees seems to have any negative consequences of the high temperatures that's has produced by the fire. On the other hand, forest fires are responsible for increasing level of co2 emissions in Earth atmosphere.

Although fires some times not having any consequence for the trees , they are having an negative effect on wildlife. Especially animals that can run or fly away are the victims of forest fires.

Forests are producing oxygen, that we need for breathing..

Putting all the positive points of trees and forests together we come to

Final conclusion :

1- Trees are collecting co2, what's the main greenhouse gas. So, trees are an excellent way to fight climate change and global warming.

2- They produce oxygen, what we need to breath

3- Trees are protecting he soil with roots and leaves.

4- Trees and forests are the habitat for many a diversity of wild life

5- Forrest are evaporating water in the air. So, the air is much moisture.

6- Forest are preventing the desert from expansion.

7- Final conclusion: We need trees in our fight against climate change, and to protect wild life on our planet.
