Biomass!
Biomass is something we all know, and probably the oldest form of energy use. This material is simply known as wood. Wood can be seen as the most common and efficient used energy.
For many thousandth of years, used by men mostly for heating ,cooking, or as defence against predators.
In modern times, biomass refers to green energy, because it's an natural and carbon dioxide neutral form of energy.
More and more electricity producing power plants are re-inventing this cheap and eco-friendly bio fuel.
For exsample by recycling used as package material or from an other wood recycling resource. In fact, any dry plant material can be used as heating material.
In some African counties with dry dessert areas, the only plant material available,is the droppings from their cattle herd. Dried in the sun, these materials are been used mostly for cooking. So, it's also a form of biomass energy.
The carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel, they were already out of the C02 cycle for millions of years and stored deep below Earth's surface. So They never had to come back in Earth atmosphere again. But there was the "human" needed this energy for heating and transport.
Yes, we've needed this energy. But knowing what we knowing now, today we have to re-considering our energy use, and take other way's in and start using bio energy fuels instead of fossil fuel.
Biomass is co2 neutral, when dry and used for heating, or producing electricity, the same amount of carbon dioxide emissions is released back in the Earth atmosphere as there were collected into trees and other plant material.
The dis-advantage:
It takes much longer to collecting the co2 by forests then to release it into Earth atmosphere again.
People cut trees, but many times forget to re-plant trees. This is what happening in the rainforest's around the world. They are rapidly disappearing from Earth and the re-planting happens only in a few places.
The rain forests are cut down or burned, to make place for cows or agriculture. But because of the fragile underground in the rain forests, these land is soon left behind, while all the fertile soil is washed away with the rain.
On some places, what's left is nothing more then a rocky poor desert land.
My point of view is that recycling wood is a excellent form green energy, and I'm for.
But...As long as we "re-plant forests", and not "cutting down forests" and leaf desert instead ...
Are you with me..I'm sure you are.. We all love green forests, don't we?
