Advantages of Wind energy
Hi and welcome to our "advantages of wind energy" page.People have been using wind power by windmills ,mostly for grinding grains into flour or to pump up water ( and still is)for irrigation. Now,the wind is used in the first place to generate electricity, and secondarily to pumping-up water. The windmills of the past are turned into high tech energy converters. These so called wind turbines, wind generators or wind power units, generating energy for companies and thousands of other people living nearby area. Don't underestimate the power of wind, and the power of wind turbines. Wind power units producing electricity the same way
conventional oil or gas electricity plants
are doing. These electric plants are producing steam and the steam let the turbines rotate. The rotation producing electricity.Just the way wind turbines rotating and producing electric . The results are the same, but with wind energy no CO2 emissions are coming free, and that's one of the biggest advantages of wind energy. Although, in most of the countries ( Europe), wind turbines are only allowed to produce electricity for companies, or are build by energy companies that distribute the electricity.
But families living in the nearby area, also profits of the energy produced by these small electricity plants. Companies with an normally sky high electricity bill, are in fact exploiting a goldmine with the free produced electricity.
wind turbines
of today can't be compared with the old windmills of the past. Now they are much larger and much more effective. They mostly have three blades in stead of four, and they are very high and strong constructions. The windmill of today must stands extremely wind and weather conditions. That's why they are build for. They can turn their enormous wind blades, and this depending on the wind conditions of the moment, so that they don't been damage. As I said before, the power of wind can be sometimes enormous, and sometimes make it impossible to generate electricity by wind turbines.. Technology is advancing rapidly. Engineers and scientists are constantly developing and testing new materials to see what powers the materials can endure, to create the perfect rotor blades..
Windenergy pros and cons
Here some of the advantages of wind energy and also the disadvantages..We'll start with the advantages of wind energy..
The pros..
They don't produce any
co2 emissions..
Wind is for free! It's always been, and it always will be. It's also available from North to South and all over the world, and even at night, wind turbines can produce electricity. So these energy producing devices can work as long as there is enough wind available 24 on 24 . But , this said and done. There are places enough worldwide that still are waiting to introduce wind energy and the wind turbines in the landscape. The reasons lays in the fact that some countries are making it hard when it comes to green energy, or wind energy. The laws and regulations are complicated..
The cons..
After the advantages of wind energy, we have some disadvantages too.First one:Some people say that wind energy and wind turbines are ruing the view. But I don't think so. They are graceful and delivering green energy. If people can cut their costs on energy, they will love wind turbines. Two: Construction Costs are high. True, but some companies have build these wind energy turbines in their back yard. By doing this, they diminished the energy bill with 50 to 75 % or higher, and it's a matter of time to win back the costs of the turbines, not to mention about the amount of co2 emissions that are saved for the environment. That's why it's called "green energy". It's save for the environment and helps us to fight climate change and global warming.
Thirdly, the wind is free, but not always available. That's very True, but when times goes by, wind turbines are improved. They are great devices, created to produce electricity, and sometimes even a breeze will do to let the blades turn around. The regulations are vary from country to country, and even from state to state. In some states it's easier to set up a windmill in your garden then in others..Hopefully, rules for building a wind energy plant will be loosen in the future, when energy demands will increase, and oil supply becomes more difficult..
